Daniel Ross Profile

Daniel Ross

Daniel is passionate about strategic client side consultancy, project management and construction law.

  • Over 20 years experience in the construction industry
  • Qualified LBP Builder (Carpentry, Site 3)
  • NZ Diploma in Construction Management
  • Currently completing Masters of Construction Law (Massey University)

Daniel’s project management skills, extensive knowledge of construction legislation and ability to creatively problem solve has made for a highly successful 21 year career. His interpersonal skills and effective communication consistently allows him to develop trusted relationships with clients, suppliers and key stakeholders.

These projects include many penthouse suite conversions, bars and restaurants, schools, office fit outs, high end residential homes, residential additions and new builds, gyms, and commercial base builds.

Throughout my career I have seen many disputes and litigation situations arise and escalate, and amicable working relationships fail. Mainly due to a lack of construction project management, administration and documentation knowledge – especially knowledge of construction contracts and the execution thereof.

In 2017 I identified that there was a need in the construction industry for a consultant that could be future focused in assisting with the development, management and execution of construction management, contracts and contract administration – a consultant that operated by being proactive during the pre-construction phase, identifying issues and mitigating these issues before the project went live.

I felt that this proactive approach would lead to contract administration and construction management that was logical, timely, reasonable, feasible and viable – the outcome being construction projects that operated to the benefit of all stakeholders as best as possible.

As we worked to develop Novacon Consulting systems and processes, the need to be proactive during the pre-construction phase and future focused was at the forefront of my mind. Novacon sought to identify as many things as possible that could cause issues further down the track and worked to identify mitigating solutions – rather than being reactive to issues arising during the construction project.

I could see that by developing specialised IT orientated systems and processes, including efficient and effective administration and project documentation management systems, that there was a way to try to mitigate construction issues and disputes at the outset and to streamline project delivery – all of which would go a long way towards ensuring successful contract completion.

Now that Novacon’s systems and processes, are fully operational, we endeavour to operate as proactive Client-Side Representatives (CSR), Contract Administrators, and Construction Managers – being the conduit between the principal and all stakeholders involved in the construction process, the document and the reality – endeavouring to look ahead, troubleshoot and problem solve at the outset in the preconstruction phase in order to avoid problems further down the line”
